Share with Vermont Green

A COVID-19 response in support of local Vermont businesses

Share with Vermont Green enables select Green Mountain Power net-metered solar customers to provide support to their community during a time of need. Solar customers share a portion of their exported generation to local businesses and low-to-moderate income customers as bill credits. To date, over $10,000 has been shared within the community through this unique financial assistance program.

WashU Local Energy Marketplace

A campus-based local energy market

In 2020, Ameren partnered with LO3 and Washington University of St. Louis to deploy a campus-based local energy market. Energy from on campus solar arrays was pooled and allocated under custom market rules to buildings around campus. Students & faculty at WashU participated under different market scenarios to assess responsiveness to price signals and various distribution outcomes. Optimizing on-campus consumption improves the solar installations’ economic return for the University.

Delestrøm

A local renewable energy product that keeps value in communities
To complement existing renewable customer offerings, Norlys launched Delestrøm, a configuration of Pando in which customers purchase excess solar generation from their neighbors and community. Solar customers receive additional compensation above the current feed-in tariff (FiT). Delestrøm seeks to showcase the value of local renewables to other customers in an effort to increase solar deployment and drive adoption of other DERs in the community.

Marubeni Local Marketplace

Testing new retail customer propositions

As value creation opportunities grow in retail and end-use service segments, Marubeni sought to explore potential new business models and customer propositions for its global business. In 2019, Pando was configured for Marubeni to integrate solar PV generation assets and commercial facilities as proxies for retail prosumers and consumers to test and evaluate new customer propositions for local renewable energy products.

Nakayama Microgrid

Testing platform applications for Virtual Power Plants

Kyocera is a leading supplier of solar PV panels and lithium ion batteries with its own virtual power plant (VPP) software. In 2019, the Nakayama Microgrid was set up to test the local market capabilities of LO3’s platform to complement a VPP. Kyocera integrated solar PV systems and residential batteries with Pando at one of the company’s facilities in Yokohama.

Mori Energy Marketplace

Testing dynamics of a retail energy auction

elDesign, a Tokyo-based consulting and service company, launched the Mori Energy marketplace for customers to virtually buy and sell local clean energy in a rural town of Fujimi, Nagano prefecture, Japan. Mori Energy, a community-based retailer and a subsidiary of elDesign, hosted the project. This marketplace linked residential solar generators (prosumers) with residential consumers and small commercial consumers. elDesign evaluated commercial considerations for local energy trading with a focus on customer incentive design and engagement.

Latrobe Valley Microgrid Feasibility Study

Community energy for rural Australia

The Latrobe Valley Microgrid feasibility study demonstrated how DERs can participate in a local market to improve economic and resilience outcomes for customers. The ARENA-funded study outlined how market principles could support more efficient allocation of value to rural communities at the edge of the distribution system.

Celsia Microgrid

Integrated operations to optimize a commercial microgrid

The Celsia Microgrid was a multi-year demonstration to develop a full stack metering and software platform to apply dynamic pricing & allocation to a shared a solar + storage microgrid in Cali. Celsia evaluated the commercial potential for additional services to complement their rooftop PV and retail power businesses.
